I teach a variety of Communication Studies courses at Baylor University including Introduction to Communication Studies, Advanced Public Speaking, Technical Speaking, Interviewing, Nonverbal Communication, and World of Rhetoric.
My professional service includes writing software for the administration of speech and debate tournaments at the high school and college levels.
My primary research interests are rhetorical theory (specializing in argument theory) and American public address (specializing in presidential rhetoric).
I received my Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa in 1976. My dissertation topic was “Herbert Hoover and the Public Relations Approach to Economic Recovery, 1928-1932.”
